I didn’t think I’d ever have to have an events page, but it now seems that I do. There’s lots happening for me over the next few months, so this is a run down of where I’ll be and what I’ll be doing.
Commencing Saturday 9th June 2012
Online Pocket Novel/Sweet Romance Workshop – I will once again be running my popular online pocket novel workshop from 9th June 2012. The course will run for 6 weeks + one week either side for intros and catch up. That is a total of 8 weeks (starting 2nd June and ending around August 4th – please note you do not have to be online at specific times in order to take part in the workshop.). Whilst concentrating on writing for My Weekly and The People’s Friend, this workshop will also be useful for anyone who wishes to write sweet, traditional romance. Covers guidelines, morality, heroes and heroines, conflict, kisses, secondary characters, plots and subplots. Cost £50. However if you book and pay by April 30th 2012, you can pay a reduced fee of £45. A paypal option is available. Please contact me for payment options and/or to book. (please state clearly which workshop you are interested in). Please note: space on this workshop is limited to 15 participants. This will be the last time I present this workshop in 2012. The next one will be run in early 2013.
A selectionof comments from previous Pocket Novel Workshops:

Nice friendly style. Engaging course. Very enjoyable.
Thank you so much. It was extremely good.
I enjoyed today. You have a warm, open personality, and excellent materials, that makes it easy to take things in.

Online workshop – Writing for Women’s Magazines (
Due to problems with people getting The Weekly News, I have now changed the course to include any of the following British women’s magazines: The Weekly News, Take A Break Fiction Feast, Woman’s Weekly (or one of the Fiction specials), My Weekly (or one of the Fiction specials) and The People’s Friend.- The workshop will run for six weeks, with one week either side for introductions and catch up (a total of 8 weeks). Open to both men and women, the workshop will cover research (using the magazines in question, so you must be able to get hold of a copy of at least one of them. It doesn’t need to be a specific copy), What is a short story? What isn’t a short story, common faults, overused themes, and more. It will also include a critique, by me, of one story from each participant of under 2000 words (this has been changed to take into account the different word length requirements of the magazines - the critique will be done at the end of the course, based on work you have created during the course). The skills honed in this workshop will help you learn how to write for other women’s magazines. Cost £80 (this includes the critique). If you book and pay by the 1st August you can pay a reduced fee of £70. There is a paypal option available. Please contact me for payment options and/or to book (please state clearly which workshop you are interested in). Please note: space on this workshop is limited to 15 participants. This will probably be the last online workshop I run in 2012. Details of 2013 workshops will appear in due course.
