This page is dedicated to Pocket Novels. How to write them, how to buy them and what you can earn from them.
Please note that the word count for the My Weekly Pocket Novels has risen from 30k to 50k, and My Weekly Pocket Novels will soon become Easy Reads, so much of the information in the links provided is out of date. (I’ve changed the link to womagwriter’s site to the new guidelines) However, the basic feel of the novellas, particularly for The People’s Friend, remains the same so I’ll keep the links in place as a matter of interest.
Do you want to write for My Weekly Pocket Novels? Links to all the information you need (most recent information at top of list).
My Weekly Pocket Novels Subscription Page (I have it on good authority that you can buy single back copies)

Hi Sally
I’ve been following your new site ‘The Pocketeers’ and thinking I might try writing one. I’ve got hold of some back copies (including one of yours!) to read but they are all written in third person. Can you tell me if it is acceptable to write in first person?
Thanks for all the info you have already given. The new blog is great.
Hi Gail, I honestly don’t know the answer to that, but I will ask around my fellow Pocketeers and find out if anyone has ever seen one written in the first person. My own feeling is that if the story is good enough it will be accepted, but I don’t want to steer you wrong.
Thanks for that, Sally. I appreciate it.

Thank-you, it’s such a big help to have a site like this to refer to.

Sally, I’ve just noticed the word-count has gone up. Is that for Easy Reads too?
Yes, they’re all 50k now Antonia. They have been for some time.
I mised that somewhere along the line. Thanks.

Sally, thank you for all the useful information on this page. I sold a manuscript to Maggie at My Weekly earlier in the year, and you have been a mine of information on what to do with it next.
I’m very new to this particular market, and looking forward to seeing my book come out in the summer.
Thanks,
Ken
Oh huge congratulations, Ken! It’s a lovely feeling to know your book is going to be on the shelves, isn’t it? And it never goes away. At least not for me.
That’s right. It’s nice to know that your work has been validated by an industry professional, somebody who is saying, ‘We will pay you to let us publish this book,’ and they take on the hard work of cover design, distribution, printing, etc.
Are you working on a new one?
I’ve just completed one and Maggie accepted it yesterday! (I mentioned it in a new blog post yesterday). I’m in between pocket novels at the moment, waiting for new ideas to form.
